115 Days til Christmas!!

Yes, I'm counting!  This year I am very excited for Christmas (I'm excited every year, but more excited this year for several reasons).  One, once Christmas comes, it mean moving back to Kentucky (hopefully) is right around the corner!!  Alabama isn't bad, but it isn't "home" with all of our friends, family and familiar surroundings.  Second, I am feeling a little more prepared for Christmas and gift-making since I am starting to think about it now.  I have never started this early.  Never.  I am a habitual procrastinator so this is progress.  Third, I am just plain tired of these 90 degree temps.  I am so ready for cooler weather.

While blog-browsing I found something to get us all in the Christmas spirit.  I can't wait to print mine and put it on our mantle!

I don't know about you, but Elf is one of the best movies to get me in the Christmas spirit.  For a limited time you can download this file for FREE!  So head on over to Less Cake {more frosting} to get yours before they aren't free anymore.

I have some fun things to share in the next few weeks, so come back soon!

Poor Neglected Blog

I never meant it to happen, but time got away from me!  My plate was full with school (still is), moving states and preparing for everything that goes with a big move.  Now that we have been here (Alabama) for about a month, I decided I didn't have an excuse anymore!  So here I am.  I have a lot more time on my hands so I will hopefully be able to complete projects I've started and tackle a whole bunch more.  Especially since we just shared the big news that we are expecting!  I envision a lot of sewing and nursery decorating in the future!

I am due February 24th, 2012 so today I am about 11 and a half weeks.  Here is the last picture we got of our precious little one.

We are so thrilled and cannot wait to meet him or her!  We plan to be back in Kentucky when this little one arrives, as long as everything goes as planned with Brett's work.

In the next few months I also plan on opening an Etsy shop with paper and fabric goods made by me.  So stick around!

Little Blue Truck

I made this truck for the 1st birthday of one of our friend's son.  It was my first time not sewing on a straight line, so I was proud of my progress!  To make the truck I followed Ashley's tutorial over at Make it and Love it.  I changed the "embellishments" a little to match the truck in the book.  It was my first time sewing a stuffed toy, so it wasn't perfect (to me) but to a toddler it is!

If you have not visited Ashley's site or looked at her tutorials, please check them out.  They are so detailed and easy to follow, not to mention some great end results!

Book Page Wreath Update

After hanging my book page wreath made here I decided the wall was still a little bare.  So I picked up brown frames at the dollar store (2 for $1!) and cut two book pages to fit in the frames.  I used a stamp and brown ink to put a fleur di lis on one page.  On the other page I printed out a K and traced the outline (this was pre-Silhouette!) and filled with some Martha Stewart glitter.
